SOCCER (Vietnam Sea Game - Under 23) MYANMAR SOCCER

Myanmar soccer team was 4th place. Beaten by Thailand at Semi Final and beaten again by Malaysia at 3rd place match. But Women soccer team won 2nd place (Silver Medal). Medal won by Myanmar Dec-2003 Team Gold Silver Bronze Total  Myanmar 16 43 50 109 Rowing  5 gold, Women weight lifting 4 gold, Wushu 5 gold, Body building 1 gold, Shooting 1 gold.

Rowing
Canoe - 10 golds, Traditional- 3 golds, Western rowing - 2 golds. Expected total 15 golds. Participants are  Khin Maung Ye, Thant Zin, Maung Maung, Hla Win,  Yin Yin Twe, Chaw Su..etc total 28 men and 24 women rowers. Canoe coach Mr. Pal Pater Vari (Hagarian).

Weight Lifting
6 women and 3 men will participate.   Cathi Win (48Kg), Shwe Sin Win (58Kg), Khin Moe Ngwe (63kg), Sanda Oo (69kg),  Cho Cho Win (75kg),  Myint Kyi (62 kg) , Aung Aung Htoo (69kg).   Technical Coach is Mr. Wu Yiing , President U Aung Soe, Daw San Myint, U San Myint, U Hla Win, U Myint Swe (Referee).

Taekwondo
6 men and 4 women.  Admin and Coach 4 person.

Special Interview with Myanmar U23 (Pre Sea Games Exclusive View)
(Coach: U Tin Han, Striker: Soe Myat Min, La Kye O Loi)
There is a test play with Plan & Finance team on 29Oct2003 without spectators at PaDonMar practice field. First time national cap striker La Kye O Loi shot a first goal in first half.  But experienced striker Win Aung equalized at second half and ended 1:1 draw.
In November 16, Korea University Usan team visited and played. First match was 1:1 draw (2nd half 5 min 1st goal from Usan. 3 minutes later, Myanmar got freekick and Aung Kyaw Tun shot was pushed by injured Usan goalkeeper. That corner was kicked by Aung Kyaw Moe and Soe Myat Min header equalised. Match was ended 1;1 draw but Myanmar coach U Tin Han said that 'Myanmar team played not very well. Defenders could not block Usan strikers. Usan team played very quick and passing ball were done exactly. Myanmar team passing were not good enough and could not follow the bad passing ball. Mid field could not support and striker Yan Paing could not effectively do his job.  Opponents footballers had good ball controls. Big body structure and higher than us.  Their closed and far passing are accurate. Team work also better.'

2nd match was played on 18Nov2003 and Myanmare won 3:2 .  Myanmar gain 1st goal at first half 10 min via free kick to low ball heading by Soe Myat Min. But Usan equalized 1 goal at 32 min by Kim Dong Hwan (No.22).  7 min later, Soe Myat Min headed for 2nd goal.   2nd half  10 min again equalized by Usan Chai Hyun Yean (No.17). Later, striker La Kye O entered for Yan Paing. Match was going for draw but inquire time 1 min was a ball came out from Usan goal area and La Kye O shot for wining goal without letting the ball drop.

After match, La Kye O happily said that he was very happy to play last 15 min and more and more pleased for shooting a wining goal.

Team captain Soe Myat Min said 'We do not win easily. We play very difficult game. They hare individual skillful and robust players. This good opponent match will bring us for good benefit in Vietnam. Because, south east Asia team are not so different height and body. Standard for football skill also so so with us. But we have to play without under estamating opponents. We can be better status than last 2 year bronze medal.

Myanmar will play with Singapore as first match in group B. Later matches will be Cambodia and Malaysia in Ho Chi Minh city.  Best 2 team will compete semi final at Hanoi city which is more cold weather.

Aung Aung Oo (Goal Keeper), Hein Zeya Kyaw (Reserved goal keeper),  Zaw Lynn Tun, Soe Myat Min, U Thet Naing Soe, Aung Kyaw Moe, Yan Paing, Aung Kyaw tun, U Soe Lin Tun, Htay Aung, Kyaw Khing Win, U Zaw Htike, Aung Kyaw Myint

This yeare U23 team started from last 3 years 2000 tiger cup players. That time players Aung Kyaw Tun , Aung Kyaw Moe, Soe Myat Min, Zaw Lin Tun (1), Thet Naing Soe, Zaw Htike, Lwin Oo and Aung Aung Oo  are now in U23 team.Aung Kyaw Tun was direct selected from U16 team and that time, his age was just over 14 years old.

After this game, Asian football association defined the Sea Game football as U23 (Under 23 years old). Tiger cup team Myanmar was a youngest team and forecast by media as potential team for 21st Sea Game football in Malaysia.  That Sea Game, Myanmar won bronze medal but quality and skill is as a finalist.  Many present U23 team player also participated as Aung Kyaw Moe, Tint Naing Tun Thein, Yan Paing, Zaw Htike, Zaw Zaw and Kyaw Thura.

2004 Asia Cup qualification match was played with Iraq, Bahrain, Malaysia. 3 matches at KL (Malaysia) and 3 match at Bahrain. 1 win 5 loss and shot 4 goal and 18 goal given.  15 players from this qualification matches are now players of U23 team such as  Aung Aung Oo, Soe Myat Min, Soe Lin Tun, Thet Naing Soe, Htay Aung, Zaw Lin Tun (2), Kyaw Khine Win, Lwin Oo, Aung Kyaw Tun, Aung Kyaw Moe, Yan Paing and Zaw Zaw.

Usan University (Korea) visited to Yangon and played as final test for Sea Game. Two game were played. 1st game was draw 1:1 and 2nd game was won by 3:2.  From this match Zaw Lin Tun (1) and Kyaw Khine Win able to play with defenders but Khin Maung Tun's right wind has less cutting power to opponents. Right win is to take special care.  If Aung Kyaw Moe play for right win at 3:5:2 format, Soe Lin Tun, Aung Kyaw Tun, soe Myat Min, Lwin Oo, Aung Kyaw Moe first line up might play better. If Zaw Htike is number one striker and Yan Paing is second striker, next matches might  get more score opportunities

Anyway, Myanmar U23 team is most experienced team among 8 participants.
